Is it Possible to Increase Club Head Speed with Warm Up Golf Exercises?
There Have Been Studies Made to This Effect in the Golf Exercises and Fittness Area and the Following is One of Them :
After completion of the observation and studying of 22 active golfers as to the effects of performing pre-round golf workouts it was determined that there is a profound difference in golf head speed when warm ups are performed versus not being performed! Even with mini golf workouts, club head speeds were increased approximately by 25% over those that went into their round without performing any golf exercises period.
The reason for the study was to prove that it was possible for golfers to increase their club head speed by routinely performing golf exercises and/or golf workouts before commencing their round on the golf course. To enable the testing of this theory, 11 golfers on a control team were matched with 11 golfers on a fittness test team. Each golfer was matched for age within a couple of years and a handicap within 1 stroke. Firstly these golfers were tested with 10 golf strokes to determine their club head speed in a controlled laboratory setting.
During the first 7 days, the test crew performed their golf exercises warm up routine firstly following up with their 10 strokes, where as the control crew only performed their 10 strokes. Both teams continued with this routine for five times per week during a five week period. After the study was completed, they found that the team of golfers routinely performing their pre-game golf workouts had increased their club head speed by an outstanding 7 to 10 meters per second, or approximately 24%.
What does all this mean to you as a golfer? Well based upon this study, it has been proven scientifically that the game of golf certainly requires athletic endurance and fittness. Also when the proper muscles that are used to control swing and grip are warmed up by performing the right golf exercises before time, just about anyone can seriously improve his game by increasing his golf head speed.
